Please remember when framing, pastels must have a mat. Look for the standard frame with a 5x7” opening when looking at store-bought options, or your custom framer will understand the procedure for pastels and give you mat options. The mat will provide a void that will protect the delicate pastels from the glass. Glass protects the artwork from environmental influences such as dust, dirt, moisture, fading, and UV damage. Pastels can be disturbed or even blown off so it is highly recommended to frame your pastel portrait, but don’t forget to include the mat as well.
